Born and raised in the suburbs of Los Angeles, Christopher Mintz-Plasse is an actor and musician who boasts wide-ranging credits in film, TV, and animation voice over.
Rocketing to stardom with his breakout role as the endearingly awkward Fogell in the 2007 smash-hit comedy ‘Superbad,’ Mintz-Plasse quickly became a household name, earning adoration from rowdy frat bros to societal misfits and everyone in between.
Following the success of ‘Superbad,’ Mintz-Plasse continued to solidify his presence in Hollywood with a string of diverse comedic roles, including the 2008 David Wain comedy ‘Role Models,’ 2011’s Craig Gillespie horror-comedy ‘Fright Night’ and 2014’s blockbuster comedy ‘Neighbors’ and its sequel. On the set of ‘Fright Night,’ Mintz-Plasse met actor/filmmaker Dave Franco, and the two collaborated on ‘You’re So Hot,’ a trilogy of raunchy FunnyorDie sketches that garnered millions of views.
One of Mintz-Plasse’s most notable performances came in the form of the villainous Red Mist in the superhero film ‘Kick-Ass’ and its sequel, ‘Kick-Ass 2’. His portrayal of the socially awkward yet menacing antagonist demonstrated his ability to seamlessly transition between comedy and drama, further showcasing his range as an actor.
In addition to his on-camera work, Mintz-Plasse has made a significant impact in the world of animation voiceover. Most notably, he lent his voice to the character of Fishlegs in the DreamWorks Animation franchise ‘How to Train Your Dragon,’ as well as King Gristle in ‘Trolls’ and ‘Trolls Band Together.’ He’s also provided impressive voice work in Laika’s ‘ParaNorman’ and the Comedy Central digital series ‘Blark & Son.’
Most recently, Mintz-Plasse has appeared in Emerald Fennell’s Academy Award-winning dark comedy, ‘Promising Young Woman’ and the 2022 Paramount+ film, ‘Honor Society.’
Mintz-Plasse is also a versatile musician, known for his prowess on the bass guitar in his alternative rock band, Colorvision. He has also played on tour with legendary folk-rock hero, Ben Kweller, where he showcased his musical versatility to audiences worldwide.
