Scott Schiaffo is an actor/musician best known to independent film fans as the Chewlies Gum Guy from Kevin Smith’s 1994 independent cult classic Clerks. Schiaffo has appeared in several feature films as well as many shorts since his big screen debut in the seminal cult comedy Clerks. Schiaffo and his Clerks cast mates were featured in Season 3 of Comic Book Men episode 11 “Pinheads”.
He was featured in the View Askew produced – Lions Gate distributed motion picture Vulgar, again playing opposite Clerks staple Brian O’Halloran. Vulgar enjoyed a controversial run in art house theaters on both coasts, and the film has since gone on to become a cult classic. Scott has additionally appeared in films alongside Michael DeLorenzo in The Garden State, and Selma Blair in The Broccoli Theory.
Other film credits include playing the lead, Detective Mike Tobin, in New Artists Productions Linger which was an audience favorite at the Big Apple Film Festival. Scott can also be seen in Shooting Clerks and Dog and the Dead Guy.
Scott played the lead, Mo Fletcher, in Idiots Are Us, which won Best Comedy Feature at the 2007 New York Film and Video Festival. He appeared in MPR Films 2010’s Don’t Shoot which won Best Low Budget Short at the Jersey Shore Film Festival.
Schiaffo also released a book of collected poetry and short stories called Vicious Dogs Attack Me in Sleepless Nights of Summer and is currently working on an audio release of the book with many special guest readers.
