Pensacon is pleased to welcome writer, comic historian and the granddaughter of the original founder of DC Comics, Nicky Wheeler-Nicholson!
Nicky Wheeler-Nicholson is the granddaughter of Major Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson, founder of DC Comics, prolific pulp writer, military intelligence officer and inventor.
In 2008, Major Malcolm Wheeler-Nicholson was honored posthumously with an Eisner Award at San Diego Comic Con for his ground-breaking innovations in bringing original art and scripts to comic books.
She is currently writing a biography of “The Major” with co-author Gerard Jones (author of the Eisner Award-winning Men of Tomorrow). Nicky is a writer, editor and publisher with experience in audio, film, animation and book publishing, and holds a Master’s in Classical Greek Mythology.
Her publications include articles on comic book history, mythology, Native American elders and the environment, and scripts for theatre and animated film. Most recently she was featured in Women’s enews with an article on Wonder Woman and San Diego Comic Con.
Nicky was an editor and contributor to Oil and Water and Other Things That Don’t Mix, an anthology to benefit Gulf Coast environmental groups; and contributed a profile of The Major to The Overstreet Comic Book Guide.
She is grateful for the tremendous support from the comic book community in her big adventure to reclaim her grandfather’s place in comic book history.
